Chimney sweeper

If you wish to establish yourself as a chimney sweeper in Denmark, you must submit an application to the Danish Transport, Construction and Housing Authority.

How to apply?

Establishing yourself as a chimney sweeper:

Applicants from other EU/EEA countries or other countries with which Denmark has an agreement on the pursuit of regulated professions may, on application, work as a chimney sweeper in Denmark. If you wish to set up a business as a chimney sweeper in Denmark, you must submit an application to Danish Transport and Construction Authority.

  • proof of the applicant’s nationality;
  • attestation of professional competence or evidence of formal qualification giving access to pursue the profession of chimney sweeper;
  • attestation of the applicant’s professional experience where applicable.

When you apply to set up a business as a chimney sweeper, you must use the form Application to establish a business as a chimney sweeper.

Temporary or occasional pursuit

The Danish Transport, Construction and Housing Authority has no requirements on prior declaration or check regarding temporary and occasional service providers.

Requirements for non EU citizens and businesses

The same requirements apply as for EU citizens and businesses.

Fee

No fee required.

When can I expect an answer?

The Danish Transport, Construction and Housing Authority will send you an acknowledgement no later than two weeks after it has received your application and inform you if any documents are missing. The Danish Transport, Construction and Housing Authority will make a decision on the case no later than two months after it has received a full and complete application. This response deadline may be extended by two weeks if difficulties arise that may lead to a delay.

In case of rejection

The Danish Transport, Construction and Housing Authority's decisions regarding pursuit of the profession of chimney sweeper may not be brought before another administrative authority.

In case of rejection, you can bring the case before courts.
