The Finger Plan
The Finger Plan has since 1948 been the backbone of the regional planning for Greater Copenhagen, despite of the fact that it has constantly been challenged by development and and the fact that the planning has been handled by several different agencies.
Greater Copenhagen is one cohesive residential area and labour market with common regional outdoor recreational areas and green areas across municipal borders. Accordingly, there are special regulations for planning in the Greater Copenhagen area to ensure an overall strategy for planning and development across the entire area.
The Greater Copenhagen area includes according to the Planning Act 34 municipalities.
