Insurance Intermediary

Insurance intermediaries are insurance brokers or insurance agents. Insurance brokers provides advice on the basis of an analysis of a large number of available insurance solutions on the market and presents the results for the consumer. Insurance brokers work independently of the insurance companies. Insurance agents intermediary insurance products for a specific insurance company in agreement with the insurance company.

Both authorization, registration and notification available, depending on the activities.

How to apply?

Application for autorisation as insurance intermediary is made by filling out the form via www.virk.dk.

Furthermore declaration regarding insurance is required.

There is no requirement for the way to apply for authorization as insurance intermediary. As long as all the required documentation is attached to the inquiry to the DFSA the case must be processed equally with applications sent via www.virk.dk.

 

The following documentation must be attached:

  • Information about the company (registration number, address and contact details)
  • What type of insurance intermediation the company is applying for
  • Which countries
  • Registered ownership (more than 10 %) – who, how much and contact details
  • Information about the direction and supervisory board (if any), including CV for Fit & Proper and information about bankruptcy and/or suspension of payments
  • Criminal records on all persons in the direction/supervisory board
  • Information about narrow links to other persons/companies
  • Client account and guarantee funds for trusted funds (klientkonto og garantistillelse for betroede midler)
  • Declaration on liability statement (erklæring om ansvarsforsikring)

Temporary or occasional pursuit

Requirements for non EU citizens and businesses

The same requirements apply as for EU citizens and businesses.

Fee

No fee for application, but the authorization has an annual fee.

When can I expect an answer?

The decision on whether or not to issue an authorisation will be made as soon as possible after all necessary documents have been received. Normally you can expect to get an answer from The Danish Financial Supervision Authority within three months.

In case of rejection

If The Danish Business Authority decides to reject your application for authorisation, you will receive a reasoned notification.If you disagree with the decision to refuse your application, you have the right to appeal. The deadline for submitting an appeal is four weeks from date on which the decision was announced.
