Manure tank inspector

If you wish to inspect containers holding liquid manure, silage effluent or waste water from animal production, you must be authorised to do so by the Danish Environmental Protection Agency.

How to apply?

In order to be granted authorisation, you must provide evidence that you fulfil the requirements set out below, i.e. you must:

  • Have basic training in building technology or equivalent knowledge based on experience from production, assembly or repair of manure tanks;
  • Have professional experience in relevant fields, e.g. building tasks connected with agriculture or related sectors;
  • Be VAT registered;
  • Have a professional liability insurance policy;
  • Not be indebted to the state for a sum amounting to or exceeding DKK 50,000, and not have entered into an agreement on an extension or payment in instalments; and
  • Have completed introductory course for the authorisation scheme.

The introductory course is held once a year by the Danish Technological Institute and costs about DKK 5,000. You can obtain further information about the course by contacting the Danish Technological Institute

When can I expect an answer?

The decision on whether or not to issue authorisation will be made as soon as possible after a complete application is received by the Danish Technological Institute. In straightforward cases you can expect to get an answer from the Danish Technological Institute within four weeks. If the decision cannot be reached within four weeks, the Danish Technological Institute will contact you and inform you when you can expect an answer about your application.

The authorisation will not be regarded as having been granted by the failure of the Danish Technological Institute to reply within the set time.

In case of rejection

The decision on authorisation to become a manure tank inspector cannot be appealed to another public authority. The decision may be brought before the courts. Court action must be taken within six months of the decision being made.
