In order to act as a maritime pilot you must be employed by a pilotage service provider and receive authorization from the Danish Maritime Authority.
How to apply?
In order to get the authorization, you must fill out an application, and send it to the Danish Maritime Authority.
Applications can be submitted to the Danish Maritime Authority via an application form on the web portal Virk.dk.

When can I expect an answer?
The decision on whether or not to issue authorisation will be made as soon as possible after the complete application is received. In straight forward cases you can expect to get an answer from the Danish Pilotage Authority within two weeks. If the decision cannot be reached within two weeks the Danish Pilotage Authority will contact you and inform you, when you can expect an answer to your application.
In case of rejection
Should you wish to appeal any decision regarding the application of a Pilotage Certificate, appeals must be adressed to the Danish Shipping Tribunal.
