Rearing of certain types of animals (persons responsible for farms with deer, ostrich and feathered game)

A farm with deer, ostriches, feathered game shall initially be registered by the owner at The Danish Veterinary and Food Administration. New fox breeding cannot be established according to Consolidated Act No. 469 of 15 May 2014 on ban on fox husbandry.

The person responsible for the holding/breeding must have completed a course regarding the specific animal species, approved by the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration.

Information on experience regarding the rearing of the animal in question is required. No particular forms.

Temporary or occasional pursuit

1) Name

2) Home address

3) Potential address in Denmark

The notification must for the first time, or if a renewal is required, the information previously given, must be accompanied by the following documents:

1) Proof of nationality

2) Certificate from the competent authorities in the country of establishment, that the applicant is legally established in the country to manage the running of a breeding respectively feathered game, deer or ostriches.

3) Certificate from the competent authority of the country of establishment, that the service provider has not received permanent or temporary ban or similar against being in charge of operating a breeding respectively feathered game, deer or ostriches.

4) Proof of professional qualifications.

Establishing a business

The same requirements apply for both temporary and permanent service providers.

Requirements for non EU citizens and businesses

The same requirements apply as for EU citizens and businesses.

Fee

No fee required.

When can I expect an answer?

The decision on whether or not to issue an authorisation will be made as soon as possible after all necessary documents have been received. Normally you can expect to get an answer from The Danish Veterinary and Food Administration within four weeks.

In case of rejection

If The Danish Business Authority decides to reject your application for authorisation, you will receive a reasoned notification.If you disagree with the decision to refuse your application, you have the right to appeal. The deadline for submitting an appeal is four weeks from date on which the decision was announced.
