Trichinella seeker

If you wish to work as a trichinella seeker you can apply for a job in an accredited laboratory or you can apply to the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration (DVFA).

If you apply to an accredited laboratory, you do not need any approval or authorisation from the DVFA, the laboratory will make sure you have the appropriate education and training.

If you wish to work as a trichinella seeker in Denmark outside an accredited laboratory, you must be approved by the Official Veterinarian and complete a course approved by the DVFA.

How to apply?

There are no formal requirements to the application to work as a trichinella seeker in Denmark.

You must contact the Official Veterinarian.

Along with your application, you must send all certificates and diplomas relevant to your profession.

Temporary or occasional pursuit

The same requirements apply for both temporary and permanent service providers.

Establishing a business

The same requirements apply for both temporary and permanent service providers.

Requirements for non EU citizens and businesses

The same requirements apply as for EU citizens and businesses.

There is a fee for the required course for trichinella seekers. The price and payment method may vary dependent on who is offering the course at the time of application.

When can I expect an answer?

The decision on whether or not to issue an authorisation will be made as soon as possible after all necessary documents have been received.

Normally you can expect to get an answer from The Danish Veterinary and Food Administration within four weeks.

In case of rejection

If the DVFA and the Official Veterinarian decides to reject your application for approval, you will receive a reasoned notification. If you disagree with the decision to refuse your application, you have the right to appeal.

The appeal should be submitted in writing by e-mail, letter or fax to the DVFA Complaints Center.
