The European Defence Fund

The Regulation establishing the European Defence Fund was adopted in May 2021. The purpose of the Fund is to establish better conditions for member states to co-operate on research, development and the acquisition of defence equipment and to ensure an open, innovative and competitive European defence industry.

The European Defence Fund will allocate roughly EUR 8 billion over a seven-year period from 2021 to 2027.
